Covid-19 hits Meals On Wheels in particularly challenging ways. For one Meals On Wheels America relies heavily on a largely retired age volunteer base to prepare meals and deliver them to seniors. Many of those volunteers have comorbidities, family concerns, or other Covid related issues that prevent them from continuing. Second, at the same time demand for meals has increased as seniors who otherwise might have been able to get out of the house for some shopping or community dining no longer can.
