I really can only describe the way I feel right now as lucky. I feel lucky to have been able to be living in Philly right now, so that I could witness the Phillies winning the world series so close.
On Wednesday night after they won, my friends and I (and hundreds of thousands of others) all spilled onto Broad Street. The sound was a constant roar. It was awesome.
Yesterday, Halloween, was the celebration parade down Broad Street. I brought my camera out with me this time. What a scene. Some reports have it at 2 million people. I believe it. For several miles the street was lined with thousands upon thousands of people every block it seemed. People on top of buildings, hanging out of parking garages, and on top of newspaper stands. It was great.
Hey all, in honor of the Phillies being in the World Series and potentially ending our long championship drought, I’ve prepared some photos for you to download and use as a wallpaper. Feel free to do with them what you wish.
Also, for great gift ideas consider purchasing either a Fine Art inkjet panoramic or a wrapped Canvas print of Citizens Bank Park. Great for the Holidays, Birthdays, etc.
UPDATE: check this link for some great youtube videos of the craziness. my favorite is Temple’s campus.
Last night I watched the Phillies clinch the National League title at a restaurant in South Philly attached to their ballpark. It was an amazing night. After the game, and a requisite amount of celebratory dancing, and mustard squirting (John) we decided to drive down Broad Street.
Well, we weren’t unique in this idea, even though it as quarter past midnight thousands of people swarmed to the streets unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. It took more than an hour to drive from the Stadiums, to City Hall, and back to Washington Ave.
But get this…. It took only 47 minutes (approx) of constant horn honking to kill my car horn.
This morning, I see on Philly.com the following two photos shot by staff photographer, John Costello. That’s John “The Mustard Squirter” Strode, and Liz cheering very loudly as I lay on the horn.
This one is Steve Gengler, and barely visible, Elise Persico, hanging out of our friend Jenna Grasley’s car at Broad and Snyder.
